Leaf Peeper

Aspen gold
Snowy Range Scenic Byway
September 2018
Last week, I headed to the Snowy Range on a "leaf peeping" mission. Most of the Aspen on the north side of the mountains were near peak color.
I made the full circle from Laramie to Centennial, from Centennial to Riverside, and from Riverside to Laramie. The Aspen on the south side were mostly still green, but I'm sure they will be gorgeous this weekend.
I spent most of the afternoon admiring nature's beauty.

I ate my sack lunch on the shore of Mirror Lake - just me, the birds, the fish, and a gorgeous view.

Are the trees in your area showing Fall color?

  1. Beautiful pictures Nancy! Mirror Lake looks like the perfect place to stop for lunch.

I've seen twinges of color in some trees around here (PA) and saw absolutely no color at all in Rhode Island last weekend!

  2. Oh my how pretty. We have dipped under 100 yet and really don't have change of colors and I miss that.

  3. So pretty and peaceful! The picture with the clear water was really beautiful. We are definitely starting to see some signs of fall. The ash trees are the first to turn gold in my yard and they have begun already.

  4. Love the pictures. From what we saw in the Tetons I knew they would be beautiful. Coming home from Rozet last week, over Ten Sleep Pass, the colors were beautiful also.

  7. I love that you venture out on your own, discover and soak in new places and treasures along the way. You've captured some beautiful shots. Autumn color is rare in my neck of the desert since trees are few and far between, but even the desert has a definitive color change with the arrival of Fall...which has yet to make an appearance.

  9. Beautiful! Dave and I had to drive a a few towns over for a funeral yesterday, and on the drive I noticed our leaves are just starting to turn. The humid weather is suppose to be done after tonight, so we should see more dramatic changes soon.

  10. The aspen in my backyard are still green, but I can see color up on the mountains. It looks like you had a lovely day.

  11. Such pretty autum colours! The native trees in New Zealand are evergreens so it is only the imported exotic trees around which change colour.

  12. Gorgeous! No change in color here yet, but since it’s been getting down into the upper 20s and low 30s this past week I’m sure it will happen soon. Thank you for the beautiful photos.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  13. Wowzer! Gorgeous color. I haven't seen much in the way of color change yet. We've had a miserable hot, wet year. Don't know if we'll see all that much to tell the truth. We don't have mature trees near us. On the other hand in two weeks I'll head to Harrisonburg Va for my fall quilt retreat and will drive through a small mountainous area. Hopefully I'll see some leaves turning there.

  15. Thanks for sharing such a lovely day.
The leaves are just beginning to turn in southern Wisconsin. I wonder if all the rain is slowing things down.
