Two Step QAL - May Clue

Two Step Clue for May 13 star blocks This month's clue created thirteen star blocks. I made half of them with red tips to the outside and half with blue tips to the outside. May's clue on the right remaining components on the left Two more months remain in the mystery. I'm sure that June's clue will create another block with the remaining units. The coordinator said were four possible ways the units could be combined, but only one was right. This mystery has a relaxed pace (one clue per month) which I've enjoyed. Two Step QAL - April Clue

April clue Two-Step Mystery 2017 Two components were created in the Two-Step April clue. The one on the right with the hour-glass blocks resembles a holiday cracker. This mystery will probably have one or two more clues. I'm eager to see the quilt blocks these units will create.

Two-Step QAL - March Clue

Two-Step QAL March clue March 2017 I'm currently working on two mystery quilts - Quilts for the Military (weekly clues) and From My Carolina Home Two-Step Mystery QAL (monthly clues), and I have managed to keep up with the sewing required. The March clue of the Two-Step QAL used 5 inch squares to create Half-Square Triangles (HSTs), and they have been squared and trimmed to 4.5 inches. components of the Two-Step QAL February 2017 March's clue used the 5 inch squares in the upper left, and the only cut fabric not used is the stack of 4.5 inch squares in the lower right corner. After three months of clues, I have completed:      •  Two patch units (lower left) - January      •  Hour-glass units (upper right) - February      •  Half-square units (shown in the top photo of this post) - March January and February segments were shown in this post .

Two Step QAL - Clues 1 & 2

Two Step Mystery Quilt Along February 2017 In January, when I saw a mystery quilt along featuring scraps, I decided to participate. On Sunday, I pulled red and blue scraps out my scrap bins for 2.5, 4.5, 5, 6.5 inch pieces and astonishingly found enough for the Two Step Mystery quilt . Other than resizing the 6.5 inch squares into 5.75 inch squares, no fabric (other than the white background) required cutting. January Clue #1 48 strip sets (24 blue/white; 24 red/white) Clue #1 was easy and fast with chain-stitching. February Clue #2 making hour glass blocks February's clue was more involved, requiring marking and careful stitching, cutting, and squaring. February Clue #2 48 hour-glass blocks Two Step Mystery Quilt Along Clues #1 & 2 complete It's not too late to join in the fun. Clues #1 and 2 can easily be completed before the next clue is released on the third Friday of March.
