String Orchestra Laramie High School students January 2023 Last Wednesday, one of the three orchestras at Laramie High School performed for a large group of seniors at the Eppson Center. Nearly all of the students have been playing string instruments since they were very young. It was a delight to hear them perform.

Community Band performance October 2018 Last week was a whirlwind of activity: every day I had some event or activity on my calendar. Monday evening, I attended a performance of the Laramie Civic Chorus and the Community Band. It was very enjoyable. The young man in the percussion section who is shown far left in the photo was like a whirling dervish, dashing from one instrument to the next with his sheet music fluttering along with him. Tuesday morning found me in a Women's Bible study group. I had several errands that kept me busy in the afternoon. Wednesday afternoon, I knit with the Needlework group at the senior center. The group has grown from three to twelve in the short time I've been attending. I cast off the Baby Surprise Jacket, and asked some of the ladies to figure out how it would be folded into a sweater. Koto players October 2018 In addition to the Taiko performance , the Japanese Festival included a few traditional Japanese songs played on the Koto . I actually remembered the songs, and they triggered some wonderful memories. The instrument, similar to a harp, has a distinctive sound.

University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra September 2018 Last Thursday, I attended the first concert of the UW Symphony Orchestra Season. Since I purchased season tickets for the symphony and the theatre/dance performances, I will be spending a lot of time enjoying the 2018-2019 fine arts season. I snapped the photo before the conductor entered, but many people were taking photos during the concert. The seats in the last two rows of the hall are called "Tweet Seats" and are sold to those who want to tweet quietly during the performance. Do you "Tweet" and would you tweet during a concert or play?

box of 8-track tapes for sale Goodwill - Laramie, WY September 2018 . . . when these were popular? I played some of mine so much they literally wore out.  Lots of wonderful memories of cruising down the highway with the windows open (no A/C) and singing along to the Mamas and Papas, The Carpenters, John Denver, The Beach Boys, and Buck Owens. Somewhere in my garage are two 8-track tapes one of my students made of the musical Godspell that I directed at Wheatland High School in the mid-1970s. I don't have a player anymore, but I can't bring myself to throw the tapes away.

Woodpile Riverton Branch Library June 2018 Weekly outdoor concerts started on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. The crowd that evening was small but appreciative. I think the temperatures that day (high 90s) discouraged people from coming out; however, it was pleasant in the shade of the building and the pine trees that towered overhead. Woodpile, a folk music group, performed mostly songs the members had written. Besides the instruments shown in the photo, they also played the banjo and mandolin. The free concerts at the library will continue on Wednesday evenings through July with different performers at each concert. Do you attend outdoor concerts in your community?

Fremont County Symphony Spring concert 2014 During the fall and winter, the local communities (Lander and Riverton) offer an abundance of opportunities to attend live concerts and performances. The community college, the public schools, the County Symphony, and the Community Concerts Association provide entertainment, making the long, dark season alive with music and live performances.  I am eager to see this year's schedule of concerts. reflection of the orchestra in the acoustic tiles above the stage.  Do you attend concerts in your community during the fall and winter?
