Thirty Years Later . . .

painted by Brenda M. 2020 I mentioned that my niece, Brenda has been painting during our weekly FaceTime calls, and some of you have asked what she paints. This cute bear arrived in my mailbox this week. Brenda and her Mom host an annual cookie and ornament exchange, and they decided last year that 2020 would be the final party. That was long before COVID-19 decided to descend on the world. They thought thirty years was a good stopping point.  Every guest at the exchange receives a gift from Marilyn and Brenda, and this year it was doorstoppers. My BIL cut wood bear forms, and Brenda began painting the 30 bear doorstoppers in March. I requested stars on my bear's pajamas. On the Wing

Update: four pale blue eggs with brown spots are now visible in the nest. I think it is a house finch nest, but I am not sure. Another type of bird was spotted in my yard yesterday, but this one came from my knitting needles. Fremont Fiber Guild members are decorating a seven foot tree for the local Festival of Trees in December, and the group decided to use red or gold decorations, created from wool and other natural fibers. Last summer, I reclaimed a vibrant, red sweater made of lambswool, and the yarn worked perfectly for this project. I experimented with various patterns, but many of them just didn't look right or were confusing to knit. I found a cute bird ornament by Mel on Slip Slip Knit . The tail was frogged twice before the directions made sense to me. I'll show this prototype to guild members at Knitting Group tonight. I know they will be pleased with the result and will request the pattern. I plan to make two birds for the tree and maybe one for myself.

Knitting Angel

This Knitting Angel found a soft spot in my heart and a special place on my Christmas tree. The hostess of the Knitting group, Christmas dinner crafted these cute ornaments for everyone. They would be simple to make and include: a purchased doll about 3 inches high, feather wings, toothpick needles with bead ends, and some gold cord for the hanger. They are absolutely adorable.
