I ♥ Fall KAL socks October 2017 Update on the socks I'm knitting for  Dee and Vera's I ♥ Fall Knit-Along. The finished sock doesn't look as dark as it looked as I was knitting. Earlier posts on the socks can be seen here and here . Gladly, the KAL has renewed my interested in sock knitting.

I ♥ Fall Knit-Along

September 2017 Progress on the I ♥ Fall KAL has been slow: I've been distracted with other knitting and sewing projects. The dark yarn is difficult to knit without good light, and I've dropped several stitches in poor light conditions. Pattern : ribbed cuff - socks Needles : US size 2 Yarn : Zauberball Crazy (#2312 - Piano Bar)           based on the yarn in the ball, I am surprised it is knitting up so dark           The yarn was introduced in  this earlier post Stitch count: 64 for the ribbed cuff, 60 after the gusset decrease Heel : Square Heel (aka - Dutch Heel) from Heels by Number The weather has taken a definite turn in recent days - cold, damp, and rainy. Snow has fallen in the high country and seems to be working its way down the mountain. I am hoping that Fall will not allow Winter to dominate during this transition.

Crazy Zauberball yarn Color 2312 - Piano Bar Today is the official start of the  I ♥ Fall Knit-Along , hosted by Dee at  Pointy Little Sticks . I found three skeins of yarn in my stash that would be appropriate for the KAL and decided to use the Crazy Zauberball yarn I purchased in June at Cowgirl Yarn in Laramie, WY. The leaves on my Ash trees are gradually turning gold and falling. These trees are typically the first in the neighborhood to change color. It's fun to see the yarn colors that others have picked: some bright and colorful; others, muted like the skein I selected. Fall color in this area is mostly gold and sometimes a burst of red. I am going to knit a pair of plain socks (no lace or patterns) as I prefer not to have a pattern on my socks.

Peace Cowl - revisited

Image
Completed Project Peace Cowl December 2016 This was such a fun knit that I couldn't refrain from knitting more than the recommended one, four-row repeat each day. i-cord bind off The i-cord bind off was a new (to me, at least) technique, and I was surprised just how easy it was. It seemed to take forever on the 318 stitches around the edge as well as the 318 stitch cast-on edge, too. I picked up the stitches on the cast on edge, but some of the others in the KAL started the cowl with an i-cord. I used a double-point needle to do the bind off because I didn't have to fight the weight of the cowl and the remaining stitches on the circular needle. i-cord edge on the other side, too Pattern :  Project Peace Cowl  (Ravelry link)  by Christina Campbell Needles : size 6 US Yarn :     Regia 6ply Tweed - Bordeaux (6 grams of the 150 gram skein remain)     Regia 4ply Silk - Marine Blue (the i-cord only used about 14 grams) Size : my fi...

Advent Calendar Scarf KAL

Image
I don't need any more projects in the works, but the  Advent Calendar Scarf KAL  (Ravelry link) sounds like a lot of fun. When I found four hanks of Gloss Lace in two separate colorways in my sewing room, it seemed as though it was meant to be. Knit Picks - Gloss Lace Sterling 70 percent merino, 30 percent silk 440 yards in each hank - total 880 yards size 2 needles  I chose the soft grey (Sterling) that has a hint of blue in low light. The finished scarf will look something like this . Daily, from December 1 - 24, the 2013 pattern will be posted here . The Ravelry group (the first link given) will offer help and encouragement. Be forewarned the group is large (1,400 members, the last time I checked) and is VERY chatty. The original scarf is 50cm wide and 200cm long, which is nearly 20 inches wide and 78 inches long. Several on the Ravelry group mentioned knitting a narrow version, which is more realistic for me to knit and to actually use, so...
