Outdoor Concerts
Woodpile Riverton Branch Library June 2018 |
Woodpile, a folk music group, performed mostly songs the members had written. Besides the instruments shown in the photo, they also played the banjo and mandolin.
The free concerts at the library will continue on Wednesday evenings through July with different performers at each concert.
Do you attend outdoor concerts in your community?
Sounds like fun!! The few we've had in our area haven't appealed to us, but my friend lives in Chesapeake City, MD and they have free concerts every Sunday in the park from Memorial Day through labor Day. We've caught a few good ones while visiting her.
ReplyDeleteOutdoor concerts are so much fun. We will be going to one this week Thursday on the banks of the Wisconsin river in Tomahawk Wisconsin. Have a happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteThey have them in the winter here...
ReplyDeleteI used to love to go to Wolf Trap back in the day. Sitting on the grass listening to the Gypsy Kings, sipping sangria. Good times!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't HERE yet. I'm having a hard time finding out where/when things are.
ReplyDeleteBut, in Jacksonville and Orlando we went to a lot of free concerts in the park. The last one we saw was the Navy Southeast band (last July 4).
Yes they have them here in two different towns both on Thursday nights. They just started this past week. We will go when we can :)
ReplyDeleteOur small city does "First Friday" - with outdoor music and food in the green plaza next to the Corn Palace each month during the warm months. We used to have city band concerts in one of the parks but I've not seen any advertising for that this summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big concert goer of any size, but my friends in the city love the outdoor summer series. I get a little claustrophobic or trapped? I dunno. I do like sitting outside in the shade for a knit though. hehe.
ReplyDeleteEh— not much for anything outdoors. Too hot and humid here. Just heard it felt like 106° here today. No fun to sit outside. Last year we went to an evening presentation at a local Civil War National Park. I melted.... I think fall or spring would be a better.... looks like a fun group.
ReplyDeleteI used to take my kids when they were little to concerts in our park. THey had a blast. THe music was very simple. Mostly people who just like to play together and not bigheadliners! Local talent!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to an outdoor concert in years. As a teen, we tried to find one a week (and were usually successful in the summer). When I was a community journalist, it was much easier as I was usually the one sent to do some press coverage!
ReplyDeleteI used to, with my kids. But the events have gotten so crowded here. Madison is just booming and both crowds and traffic keep me away.
ReplyDeleteHow nice! There is this kind of outdoor concert in the winters for us-summer temps can be brutal! lol
