Butch Cassidy
door painted with the likeness of Butch Cassidy Laramie, WY |
Laramie is the home of the historic Wyoming Territorial Prison where Butch Cassidy was imprisoned from 1894 to 1896. Cassidy was one of Wyoming's most infamous citizens, and his exploits are woven throughout Wyoming's early history.
The door with Butch Cassidy's likeness can be found in the alley between First and Second Streets at Ivinson and Grand.
Interesting subject choice for a door--I think he was romanticized for a while but a criminal is a criminal!
ReplyDeleteNever know what you might find down a alley:)
ReplyDeleteSo many interesting art installations in your area. Wow!
ReplyDeleteI love public art. We need more murals like this!
ReplyDeleteButch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was the first movie I saw in a theater. It was my parents 25th anniversary and us kids took them to dinner and a movie. It was my first time in a restaurant too!
ReplyDeleteWasn't there a big shoot-out with Butch Cassidy on a ranch just south of Buffalo? It was probably someone else and I'm mixing up my cowboy wild west history.
Take care Nancy.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Oh how cool!!! I need to watch the old movie again. LOVE the two of those men!
ReplyDeleteYou find the most interesting art on walls. I keep looking but haven't had much luck recently. Thanks for sharing Butch.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting it to look like Paul Newman...lol. I guess I watch too many movies and need to catch up on my history. I had no idea he was a real person.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mural. As someone else said, you have (and find) such great art in your area Nancy!
ReplyDeleteCool! :)
ReplyDeleteWe've been having fun lately finding public artwork, including one on an underpass on a very busy street!
