one hundred-twenty HSTs
March 2021

Sunday's FaceTime call resulted in 120 HSTs for a new Quilt of Valor. The technique used by the pattern made eight HSTs from two 10 inch squares of fabric. This week I will press the HSTs and hopefully square them before next Sunday. These pieces will be used to make Friendship Stars.

I received the second Moderna shot last Thursday. The side effects have been a sore arm and fatigue for a couple of days, some joint aches, and some mild itching at the injection site. The first shot resulted in a spreading rash at the injection site one week after being vaccinated. That rash grew to 3 inches in diameter and itched like crazy for nearly two weeks before it faded. Because of the rash after the first dose, I had the second shot in the other arm. In my case, the rash is a delayed reaction, so I will keep a watchful eye on the injection site for the four/five days.

Did you have any side effects from the vaccine?

  1. Still waiting for our vaccinations...had not heard of anyone else getting a rash. Glad your reactions were no more severe and glad you are fully vaccinated now!

  3. The first shot didn't produce too much reaction. I was very tired the next day and my arm was fairly sore. The second shot gave a more robust reaction. I had a fever and was extremely tired. I had a stomach ache and a pretty bad headache, but I don't know that those were from the shot. I had given up caffeine. Could have been a caffeine headache. My arm was sore, but not nearly so sore as the first.

To be protected, I'd do it all over again. Glad you are all done with your shots too.

  4. Well I joined you with the Covid Arm red area, mine is still visible. The second shot was given off to the side on the same arm 8 days ago...so far no red spot. I am still tired, joint aches and a touchy tummy. Everyday I hope to feel better...yesterday I went backwards and rested all afternoon...I hate feeling rotten. But it is better than Covid:(
Glad you have escaped the worst of it!

  5. My first shot of Pfizer, may have resulted in feeling of extreme arthritis in that shoulder. Got my second shot in the other arm and no problems. Years ago had what sounds like the same reaction you did with rash and itching. Because of that was told that I might be allergic to penicillin. Anyway, I found zinc oxide helped with the reaction.

  6. That is a BIG stack of HSTs! Good job! I had my first Pfizer vaccine last Friday and had almost no side effects. My arm was mildly sore for only about 24 hours. Kind of surprised me, and I've had several people tell me not to expect to get off so easy after the second one. That won't be until April 9.

  7. I had the Pfizer vaccine (both of them) with no side affects. I feel fortunate.

  8. We're getting the Pfizer vaccine. Dennis had his second on Monday and I get mine next Monday. So far neither of us have had any side effects other than a mildly, very mildly, sore arm at the injection site. My flu shot was much worse. I hope my second does goes as well as Dennis's did.
My best friend had Moderna and had "Covid Arm" too. She was down for three days with aches, fever, chills. It's been three weeks since her second dose and she's still having headaches and mildly tired.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. I had my first Moderna last week and I felt awful for three days. I had a headache and was very tired. My arm hurt like the dickens. I am not looking forward to the next one at all but I keep telling myself it's better than Covid for sure. It took my sister 3 months to get over it and she's still not 100%.

  10. I'm glad the reaction didn't develop into a more serious situation! Take care-sitting and squaring up all of these hst's will keep you busy in a slow day way!

  11. I hope you feel no more effects of the shot. We just felt sore arms after our first Pfizer. We are hoping no issues with #2, but we are not planning anything the next day. We aren't officially covered to go out anyhow. But it can't come soon enough and I'm grateful even if i get symptoms

  12. Welcome to those of us who are fully vaccinated. I'm not sure we are really going to change too much about what we do but there is more possibility to do different things.
