Tail Feathers II - a beginning

March 2021

The HSTs mentioned in Monday's post are slowly being prepped for the blocks they will become. I've used the pattern (Tail Feathers) once before and liked the finished quilt.
Unfortunately, I made a mistake when I was cutting the white setting triangles; I don't have enough fabric to recut and fix the error, so I'm shrugging off my mistake and forging ahead. This quilt with have a unique "design element."
I'm sure once the blocks are sewn together it will be noticeable to the Quilt Police, but every block will have the "error," so it may not be obvious to non-quilters.

  1. And I'm guessing it won't really noticeable to most quilters either. I like that pattern. It's very similar to the quilt currently hanging in my dining room. The mix of large HST with the small ones is eye catching.

  3. Well I am sure I will not know the mistake and that it will still be a pretty one when finished.

  5. Love the cartoons!

There is a saying that all projects have to have an error because only GOD is perfect. I know Native Americans have a saying and so do the Amish. The Amish put in a mistake on purpose just to make sure.

  6. There is no perfection in quilting and I'm sure it will be gorgeous when you're done. Love the meme's too! I've seen them regarding knitting and crocheting and they always make me laugh. Only God is perfect. I'm nowhere close. :-)
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  9. What a lovely pattern and I agree with everyone else. Quilt police be damned!!! There is always an error (or two or more) in my stitching and that is what makes it unique and mine!

  10. Not that I've paid much attention to those who think things should be done their way, but I can remember when folks said -- what you machine quilted not by hand? And now I sew my binding on both sides by machine. I'm happy and I know the binding doesn't fall apart. So no worries. Keep sewing away.
