Finishing Stitches

ready to graft toe
July 2020

I enjoy grafting toe stitches with the kitchener stitch. Even though I have the process "mastered," I still avoid distractions while working with the six stitches on each of the circular needles. This week, I grafted the toes on two pair of socks

  1. Pretty yarn. I, too, don't mind Kitchener stitch. I have it memorized, but like you I try to avoid distractions while doing it. Just because I have it memorized is no guarantee....

  2. I don't have it memorized and have to watch the video while doing it. I don't make a lot of socks.

  3. I too enjoy grafting, but mostly because I know it means I'm done the sock!

  4. I can't graft and admire those who do.

  5. That was just one of several knitting skills I couldn't seem to master. My grandmother was a master at knitting and tried hard to teach me, but it was a lost cause unless it was just a scarf or dish cloth. But she did manage to teach 2 of my cousins, who are now very talented knitters.

  6. I too have to look up a video to do the Kitchener stitch. I was just online this morning trying to find a nice purple sock yarn. I want to make a pair of wool socks for my dil as she gets cold easily. What yarn was the one you showed. Is it soft?

  7. Pretty pretty socks Nancy! ! You know me, I only do a three needle inside out bind off on my sock toes. Someone asked if you "feel" the ridge and yes you do a bit, but not much. Im kitchner phobic.

  8. Nancy, that yarn is so pretty. May I ask what it is? I, too, love to do the kitchener stitch. I love the rhythm you get into with it and the look when you're done.
    Blessings and a virtual hug,
    Betsy
