Waiting & Knitting

Simple dishcloth knitting
October 2018
I took my car to have the windshield wiper blades replaced with winter blades and to have the windshield washer sprayer fixed. Even with an appointment, the wait time was longer than I expected (nearly three hours), so I was glad to have my knitting bag and some dishcloth cotton with me.

Knitting the simple dishcloths is my go-to project for mindless knitting. Often the magazines in the waiting areas are geared to men (hunting, fishing, cars, etc.), but this waiting room did have some food and wine magazines in addition to the usual mix.

  1. Just think how many times knitting has saved your sanity in a waiting room through the years!!!

  2. Wow! 3 hours IS a long time. Good to get those wipers on though AND the sprayer fixed. Pretty yarns for your dishcloths.

  3. Sad isn't it that even with an appointment you have to wait. Yes, knitting has helped me through a few waiting times too.

  5. Thank goodness for knitting. That seems an awful long time for wiper blades, but I guess FOUND knitting time is never bad.

On Sunday I'll have a new blog. The blog address is http://littlestoneschoolhouse.blogspot.com
I hope you'll come join me there next week.

  6. I always try to have reading with me when I know I'll be waiting. The dealership near our house that we go to has designated Wednesday as Ladies Day. Cookies and a flower for each lady every Wednesday. But the wait isn't any shorter. :-)

  7. Ugh. I’m always grateful that the other half does most of the car maintenance. Unexpected waiting is why I have the kindle app on my cell phone. I always have a book with me. I wish my dealership offered manicures like one did inRichmond!

  8. There is nothing better than dishcloth knitting when you need a mindless knit. It's not often that something so useful is also so easy.

  9. Great idea to take knitting while you are waiting. I usually take my current library book. I'm not a fan of looking through old magazines which have been touched and sneezed over by countless people.

  10. You just reminded me that I have a bag of cotton yarn somewhere - I made a bunch of washcloths last year to donate. I should find it and make some more.

  11. We went to an auto parts store for new wipers, a man came out and figured out which ones we needed and installed them...now that was customer service. Three hours seems a bit much...hope they had coffee and snacks:)
