. . . the first taste of Winter

Last Tuesday, I scrambled to find the ice scraper in the glove compartment to clear all the windows before driving.

A dusting of snow was visible on the ridges of Shirley Basin.

Three days later, residents in northern Wyoming dealt with fog and more than a dusting of the white stuff.

  1. Well, here we go, I guess - will it go back to being fall there or is it just winter now until next year?

  2. Typical weather this time of year - any day now we could see frost and a dusting of early snow. But then it goes away and we get some glorious fall days again for awhile. But we did give up and turn on our heat over the weekend because it was so chilly in the house.

  3. Luckily, we won't see much of that until November or December. Don't get me wrong, I like winter... just not yet...

  4. I have the feeling we are going to go right from summer to winter. It's still pretty humid here and fall hasn't fallen.

  5. Oh my goodness, that is just crazy. Take care. I’m in lower Alabama and we don’t get that even in the middle of winter. Hugs,

  7. Yikes! I am so not ready to even see frost! Hope you are snuggling under one of your fabulous quilts with warm socks and a sweater, too!

  8. No! I do not want to have to mess with that stuff as we drive for the next couple of weeks.
    Blessings,

  10. We had snow in the air but none on the ground. It looks dismal and cold:(

  11. Ready or not, winter is always a bit of a shock! Stay safe!

  12. Oh boy. How fun — NOT. Is this the typical time for a first snow or frost? We’re back in the 80s but at least the humidity is low so it is fairly comfortable. Hopefully you have some more wonderful fall days before the temps go down for the winter and the snow gets serious!

  13. OMG! Not that already?! I'm glad I live down here in Charlotte, North Carolina. It's still warm here and should be until after Halloween.

  14. Oh, wow! We are supposed to get rain this week, but I haven't heard a forecast for snow yet.

  15. And so it begins! This desert rat would have to hibernate until spring. I'm so glad your new nest no longer requires you tend to a yard. Your winter should be much more enjoyable. :)
