Zany Zebra was adorable
September 2016 |
Friday and Saturday, the Popo Agie Quilters hosted their annual quilt show. Many beautiful and unique quilts of all sizes were on display. My eye was drawn to two red and white quilts, one of which was just plain fun! Who could resist the Zany Zebra?
It was a delight to look at all the clever embellishments. Note the buttons, lace, rickrack, and fun fabrics.
It wasn't a big quilt, but it was huge in creativity.
The other quilt that captured my attention was large, but I only captured a portion of the top in my photos.
I've seen this pattern before, and I always marvel at the amount of movement the pattern creates for the eye. Look at it a bit, and you'll see what I mean.

all straight-edged pieces in this beauty that give the
allusion of movement and curves |
The marvelous part about this pattern is that there are NO curved pieces. Check out the close-up to see the components of the quilt.
I stood there and allowed my eyes to dance over the surface of the quilt.
That bottom red quilt - is it called Storm at Sea? It's a pattern that has been on my bucket list. So gorgeous done in reds. And the zebra quilt just brings a smile to my face. So whimsical.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? NO curves? It's amazing what the eye perceives that is not there.
ReplyDeleteLove the zebra quilt. The "hair" cracked me up.
Zebra is creative. The fact that there are no curved pieces is so amazing ! at glance I thought they were curved!
ReplyDeleteThe Zebra one is cool! the bottome one is very busy!!!
ReplyDeleteI had to look twice and then I realized the edges were all straight...before I read your comment about it. That is an amazing thing. I would have said they were curved! :-). I do love the Zany Zebra too. So cute and sweet. The rick-rack had me!

The Zebra's nose is too funny -- love it. Very creative. The bottom quilt is Amazing! Looking at it, I almost felt like I was moving!! Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteAll of the quilts are wonderful but I love the zany zebra! That's the kind of quilt I would like to make. I have ideas I just don't know if I can put them into quilting fabric.
ReplyDeleteTwo fun quilts in my favorite combo of colors. One of these days I am going to make a red and white quilt...... Looks like it was a great show!
ReplyDeleteI love zany zebra
ReplyDeleteA lot of work went into both of these quilts. The zebra one is indeed cute and the second one sure does play tricks on the eyes. Both are great.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I love the colours and patterns. :)
ReplyDeleteOh that zebra really catches the eye. But the storm at sea-wonderful
