last of the scrap sock yarn
December 2019 |
Sunday evening, I finished the scrap yarn cowl, started on
November 20th. My goal of using all the small balls of scrap sock yarn by the end of the year is within reach. The black (upper left) will be used for the bottom and top cuffs, and the other colors will be used for the striped body of the cowl. I'm happy to have this goal within reach.

three days progress |
Here's my progress as of last night. The stripes are 1 inch each, and they motivate me to keep knitting. I hope to have enough yarn for two stripes each. I'm weaving in the ends after knitting two stripes.
This cowl knit with the last batch of scrap, sock yarn should be finished next week.
Have you accomplished your 2019 goal(s)?
Nice! Love the colors you are using. The only knitting goal I set for myself was to have fun and enjoy it. So far that has been the case! no pressure/no deadlines/just enjoyment:)
ReplyDeleteYou are so diligent! Congratulations on getting it all done.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!! Doesn't it feel good to reach some goals, or even to make progress on them? I've finished quite a few UFO projects this year, which pleases me. But it hasn't seemed to make a dent on the fabric stash.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful and the balls are slowly disappearing!
ReplyDelete( Do you knit in ends as you knit--um, let me find the link-

This is a great way to avoid any separate weaving in at all!
Way to go! I didn't make a list this last year it was too large to confront. Not sure about next year. :)
ReplyDeleteI have failed miserably at my 2019 knit goals, but oh well! Next year is another year.
ReplyDeleteLove those cowl colours!
Wow, I'm so impressed! Not just that you are using it all, but that you made it so pretty. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood for you, I never know what to do with all those extra yarn balls. I think I'll make a scarf with all the ones I have. We can always use extra scarves around here when the grands come to visit. I believe I finished all but two projects I wanted to get done this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed Nancy. You've met your goal and used all of the balls of sock yarn? I have two huge totes of sock yarn balls and keep making socks so I'll probably always have some leftovers. I did use lots and lots of worsted weight scraps for mittens and I'm still working through those. Otherwise, I don't remember making any specific goals for this year, just to not buy much yarn and I did suceed in that.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Going, going, GONE! Or almost gone. Do I get a point or two for pulling out an old sweater and doing a couple of rows? I can do about 2 rows before I get frustrated. I decided to start a sleeve so I can continue knitting. The sleeves are one color instead of several colors. At this rate it'll be another 10 years or so. Congrats on using up some odd balls of yarn.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I'm not going to live long enough to use up all my sock yarn scraps. Sad but true.
ReplyDeleteWell that is a great question Nancy. I forgot my goal. Must go back and see! i know how odd it was not to want to knit even one pair of socks this year. You have done so much
