Holiday Inflation

Halloween yard decorations
October 2017
Large inflatable decorations are gaining popularity and can be seen in my neighborhood for nearly every holiday. This display was fun: the dragon's wings moved from front to back.

Some people only inflate the decorations at night, but in my opinion, the crumpled heaps look pretty pathetic during the day.

Are inflatable, holiday decorations popular in your area?

  1. I have seen a few for Halloween, but I see LOTS at Christmastime. I love the ones in your photos.

    Happy Halloween!!

  2. One street over the whole neighborhood goes crazy with holiday décor, and I've seen a couple of the inflatable ones there. And in other neighborhoods around town. I agree that they look so forlorn crumpled on the lawns during the day.

  5. I don't like them, but our neighbors down the street cover their yard with them at Christmas...and then deflate them all day. It just looks messy to me. I've only seen a few for Halloween.

  7. Yes, we've seen them here as well. Just yesterday DH pointed out a huge ghost on someone's porch. We've also seen lights that project moving ghosts in the dark.

  8. We don't really celebrate Halloween here in New Zealand - or certainly never did when I was a child. But I notice that the shops are now full of spooky items, and groups of children and teens roam around knocking at doors.
Guy Fawkes Night is quite big here, on 5th November, when people usually attend a large public display of fireworks.

  9. In Florida not so much, but here ...YES! We went past one house today and I think he had one of every blowup there is. A lot of $$$ spent at THAT house. LOL

  10. My Brother in law's neighborhood in Arizona has these inflatable decorations for Christmas as well! I like them. Out here, you have to know the streets and neighborhoods that put out the effort every year. So much fun, but alas now the teenager wants nothing to do with us. :(

  11. Yep -- these have been very popular for years in the last two places I've lived. I think the dragon is great but most of the time I'm "ho hum" about them. And, I think they look ridiculous all a mess on the ground.
