Pronghorn (antelope) mural
Lander Pubic Library
December 2016
The murals on the library ceiling depict scenes from the local area. A very common wild animal on the Wyoming prairie is the antelope.

In an earlier post, I shared warning signs spotted on Wyoming roads.

  1. That is really cool...and it's on the ceiling in your library?

  2. Very interesting mural. I have an artist friend who did huge wall murals in a courthouse depicting local landscape in Minnesota. Isn't it wonderful that public places are willing to invest in such beauty?

  3. The caution sign is the best!!! LOL

Luckily, I've never run into a deer (moose, antelope, etc...), but I've come DARN close!

  4. Now that is an interesting ceiling! I've traveled in Europe and have seen beautifully painted ceilings in the cathedrals and palaces there, but I must confess, I have never seen an antelope on the ceiling! Ha ha! Have fun! Blessings, Betsy

  5. I remember my father telling me a story of hunting for antelope in Wyoming. He got one and had it stuffed. It was a pretty creature and I couldn't see killing it even after his story. But he made me appreciate that hunting was part of his heritage and actual love of the outdoors.

  7. Do you know when the murals were done? It makes me think of the WPA art projects. Very cool.
