Blocking Makes a Difference
blocking the Noro Hitchhiker December 2016 |
While the Hitchhiker pattern doesn't really require blocking, I like making the "teeth" more uniform, and blocking does that. I don't measure the teeth, but rather use the yard stick to make sure the angled edge is straight. Blocking also adds a bit of length to the shawl/scarf.

Do you regularly block your knitting?
Hum. I may borrow back my hitchhiker and block it. Especially if it makes it longer. This one is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNot usually but it can make a big difference.
ReplyDeleteYour hitchhiker is gorgeous! I block shawls...used to block socks but no longer (except for the recent ones that ended up being so small and tight!!).
ReplyDeleteIm a bad bad one about blocking. However I will try to block my current shawl when it is finished. Allison loves blocking....She didnt get that gene from me. Your measuring stick looks like a great idea I could borrow. Thanks Teacher !! and your Hitchiker looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI don't block my socks. I figure my FEET do that every time I wear them.
ReplyDeleteI have made one shawl and I did block that. What a difference it made in the shawl's appearance.
Your hitchhiker is beautiful! Blocking definitely improves. Happy New Year! xo Tammy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shawl!! I do block my knits, even things that don't need blocking like my daughter's Christmas hand towel. The blocking made all the difference in the towel especially the lace edging. I love my Knit Picks blocking squares!
ReplyDeleteIt does make a difference.... I'm not great at blocking but usually make little things that doesn't need as much blocking.
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful! I block some things but not others. I never block socks or mittens anymore but shawls and scarves I do.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
