Foreign Friday

west of Misawa AFB
Misawa, Japan
December 1979
The mountains (dormant volcanoes) in the photo were to the west of Misawa, and to view them I had to drive to the lake area on base. They are not as close as they appear, as the image was taken with a telephoto lens.

I grew up around mountains and missed seeing them everyday. On weekends, I would drive to the northern section of the base and look west at the distant peaks.

  1. Very pretty. I don't have mountains that I can see daily, but am thankful our landscape is "rolling" and hilly.

  2. The contrast of colors in that photo is simply beautiful.

I miss the mountains. We've been in Florida for 32 years now. No mountains. LOL But, I do get to enjoy a bit more "fall color" now that we are in north Florida.

  3. So pretty! We face-timed with Alex last night and they already have about 6 inches of snow on the ground in Tawada. He was driving from the Hachinoche train station and he puts his phone on the dash mount so we can see the countryside as he drives. I always enjoy that.

  4. I've never lived near mountains. But I've enjoyed visiting them and it's always a thrill when they first come into view on the horizon.

  7. Beautiful colors and mountains! I grew up in Arizona with mountains around us too. My Mom used to tell me that God was in the mountains. As a result, I always feel Him there.
