Blue Lagoon
Blue Lagoon Quilt of Valor 58 x 69 inches |
Blue Lagoon was made from one batik "layer cake" (40 - 10-inch squares) from the Tonga Treats line.
Because I didn't want any scraps, I didn't use the pattern that came with the kit. I separated the squares into two piles - lights and darks - and then paired them to make half-square triangles (HSTs). The HSTs were randomly arranged the blocks to create Blue Lagoon.
Blue Lagoon is Quilt of Valor #84 - complete list can be seen here.
The name fits it perfectly! It is a pretty one.
ReplyDeleteI like the flow and movement of this one!
ReplyDeleteOh this one totally appeals to me. I love the blues!
ReplyDeleteIt is very beachy. I can see someone in a beach cabin snuggling under it by the fire while the surf rolls in outside.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I have about half of a layer cake left from a previous project. This would work for using those up.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty! I like the way you did it so you didn't have any scraps too.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt has movement! Very pretty! :)
ReplyDelete"I didn't want any scraps" Ha, made me laugh, of the dilemma of a long term crafter.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that's a beauty!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I like the way you "randomly arranged" the HST's.
ReplyDeleteNice job. How big were your squares 4, 5"??? I like how this one does seem to have lots of movement. Excellent. I too troll the kit departments of various vendors to see if there are kits with lots of fabric at a good price. Of course, I have enough fabric to make a lot of quilts so try to control myself some what!
