Presentation Cases

Fourteen presentation cases
August 2015
When I returned home from my trip and began to put fabric away that I purchased, I pulled some older fabric from my stash to make Quilt of Valor presentation cases. The cases don't need to match the quilts and are used basically for storage to keep the quilts clean and dust-free until they are presented.

  1. That's 14 yards of fabric you've used from your stash! Are you seeing a dent yet? :)

  2. Wow - that's a lot of pillowcases and a lot of yardage out of your stash. Good for you!

  3. That's awesome sewing! My QoV's usually get *stuck* at the presentation case making…so cool that you make the cases to donate!

  4. Nancy, I just found your blog this morning while searching for instructions on how to make a twining frame. Well, that was about an hour ago and I've been sifting through your posts all this time. I love, love, love your blog! Oh, my, you are a woman after my own heart. The photo of your mom twining is priceless, and reminds me of my own mother in the 50's/60's on the farm in Illinois. She always wore a "house dress" like that. I love fiber arts and just recently have looked into making rag rugs. I like the twining method and can see how I could use quilt scraps to make them. Okay. . .I'm rambling. Now following you and looking forward to more posts. Hugs, Nancy

  5. It's so nice that the QOV's are presented with the cases. I would think you used up a good bit of stash!

  6. I have probably asked you this before so please forgive me but I would like to know how you make the cases. Are they like pillow cases? Do they have something to hold them closed? I have a family quilt that resides in a trash bag because it doesn't fit well in a pillow case and I haven't found anything else that works.

  7. You've been busy! I was thinking of presentation cases today and wondered what people do with them after they receive a quilt. I have made a couple of cases just to store my vintage quilts. But they aren't pretty like yours, just plain white in case the colors decide to run.

  8. Having seen these quilts, I must say the presentation cases are especially important at the event and for storage after!

  9. I love the idea of a presentation case! So much heart goes into those quilts. I can't believe you did 14 just then.
