Check It Out!

Albany County mobile library
August 2022

Before the pandemic, the public library purchased a used mobile library from National County. It was refurbished and painted to identify it as the Albany County book mobile. The library posts its schedule and travels to areas that contain apartments, frequently visited stores, and outlying areas. A couple of weeks ago I found the book mobile in the Middle School parking lot about three blocks from my apartment. How cool is that!

  1. Very nice.

When I was a kid we waited and waited for Book Mobile day all through the summer. It came to our neighborhood once a week. (Don't mind that I could go to the local library any evening when my dad went to his warehouse. The library was a few doors away. LOL)

I did see that Montgomery County (the county south of us) still runs one too.

  2. I loved the book mobile. It used to come to a shopping center near me and I would ride my bike over to get books. I live in Montgomery County - mentioned in Dee's comment - and I've been seeing our book mobile on the road quite a bit.
PS Is that supposed to be August 2022 (not 2033)?

  3. Very cool - especially since so many places have done away with book mobile services. You live in such an interesting community.

  5. The book mobile came to our block and parked in front of our home when the girls were in grade school...they loved it and I can still hear the happy chatter of neighbor kids in our yard plopping down and reading a book:)

  6. That is so neat. I've never seen a bookmobile anywhere that we've lived. We always have a library card though. It's one of the first things we get when we move. Our entire family is addicted to books. When we moved to Spokane, the movers told us that they had never moved a family with as many boxes of books as we had. I believe we had 57 boxes!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. I've never seen a book mobile in real life--only on tv. How cool to have one so close!
