Hindsight is 20/20

fabric collected for Tavern Blues
Tavern Blues, a pattern by Bonnie Blue Quilts, now called Red Crinoline Quilts, caught my eye about four years ago, and I began collecting fabrics: deep indigo bus, medium indigo/beige prints, light indigo/blue prints. I pursued the indigo selections in nearly every quilt shop I entered, and in some I spotted just the right shade.

One of the shops Marilyn, Brenda and I visited last summer had the fabric for sashing and the setting triangles that was highlighted in the pattern, and since it was perfect, I bought yardage.

Fast forward to last week, when I was straightening fabric in my sewing room, and decided the Tavern Blues collection needed to be in one box instead of stored in bags throughout the room. Most of it was in a plastic bin, but I found the odd shopping bags here and there in the sewing room.

What on earth was I thinking when I blindly purchased this fabric (without referencing the pattern, I might add)?

I'm sure I have enough fabric to make more than one quilt.
of course, now all the fabric won't fit in the intended box
Hindsight is telling me, I should have purchased a kit!

  1. That made me laugh. I know you will find a good use for all the extra fabric, but I think you can stop shopping for indigo fabrics now. ;)

  2. I have to echo what Tracy has written - my thoughts exactly. Those extra blues are perfect for future QOV most likely.

  9. That looks like enough fabric for at least three quilts! Happy stitching.

  10. Seems to me like there is a lot of stitching to be done in this quilt. We may not see a result for a wee while but if you do have enough fabric left over you may make another one?

  11. LOL...I think that's how I acquired entire stash! If you ever run short of those indigos, I found a quilt shop in Fredrickburg, TX that's worth a visit! :) You can never have too many!
