Motivational Marker

Twining
September 2014
I use a simple Bulldog clip to help me see my progress when twining. I move the clip to the bottom of the last row and twine from that point. The photo shows that I've added about an inch since I last moved the clip. An inch may not seem like a lot, but it sometimes can take 30 minutes or more to twine an inch.

When knitting, I often attach a removable stitch marker so I can see my progress. These clips and markers keep me motivated on seemingly endless projects.

What tricks do you use on projects for motivation?

  1. Good idea. I usually just stop and measure.

  2. Good Idea Nancy. I will have to use that. I have been working on a blanket for my son that he wanted in only SC, CH 1 pattern and I grow bored with it so often that I put it down and work on something else. I am going to try this method with this project. Maybe it will help me go faster on it. Take Care and May God Bless

  6. I use a marker on my knitting projects that take a while...because of the lace weight yarn and little bitty needles. That marker which shows my progress, although slow, sure helps with the motivation.

  7. I like the up close view. I can't wait to see the finished product! I have a lot of the removable stitch markers but have never used them, but that's such a good idea I think I will start using them.

  8. For the big blankie I do the same thing. I put a coil-less safety pin where I start. Each row takes 17 minutes or so. Sometimes the pin doesn't move very far.

I would guess the twining is tiring to your hands. It sure is pretty though.

  9. Maybe that's my problem. I don't motivate myself!
