Strike Up The Band

Strike Up The Band
Quilt of Valor
62 x 67 inches
This pattern reminded me of banners flapping in the wind, so I used 2.5 inch scraps to create the banners and added a colorful patriotic fabric border. To me, this quilt says, "strike up the band!"

The multiple bias edges were somewhat controlled by starching every time I pressed.

  1. This is definitely a happy, patriotic quilt. I can almost hear a John Phillips Sousa march!

  4. Wow! I was thinking flags flapping too when I saw it and then read your post and saw you had that in mind. And the 2 fabrics in those triangles is really what makes this so much more visually exciting than simple one fabric triangles would have.

  6. Yes, banners or I think the British call it bunting! Very festive, I like your design.
