Riverton, WY
July 2011
"Jack N D Box" was the only character balloon at the rally this year and
was piloted by John Harlow from Springfield, MO.

The crowd was patient as Jack's arms, hair, nose, and even the toys,
surrounding him were inflated.
Slowly, Jack began to rise. . .
and rise. . .
and rise. . .
until he was fully upright.
Jack was impressive on the field; however, I can only imagine
how he looked aloft since Jack remained on the ground the day I attended.

Oooh... ahhh... I've always loved hot air balloons. Went up - tethered to the ground - in one in 6th grade. Want to go on the sunrise "experience" a local company offers!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! The is one huge balloon. You got some great shot of the process.
ReplyDeleteI love the big balloons! What a shame that you didn't get to see Jack fly.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I would have loved to have seen these! We don't have any balloon festivals around here. I guess our terrain doesn't make for good ballooning.
ReplyDeleteKAT
WOW he is huge. That was always a fun day to see all the balloons in the air and to get that close to them while they are getting them ready to fly.
ReplyDeletecan i have fries with that??
ReplyDeleteWow, very cool pictures! Too bad you couldn't see him fly.
ReplyDeleteI love Jack! We once went to a balloon festival. It was so fun.
ReplyDeleteThat balloon is huge! I don't think I'll ever have the courage to go up in a hot air balloon.
