Craving Color

stash enhancement
May 2020
The last three months, I've noticed that a LOT of the socks in my sock drawer and a LOT of the sock yarn in my stash are boring and lifeless. The most common color or base color in both locations is blue. Obviously, I like blue, but staying at home to avoid COVID-19 has sparked cravings for color.

I began knitting with any color (other than blue) in my stash, but my choices were extremely limited. Desparate, I searched online to find brighter colors at a reasonable price and found some great colors and yarns on Etsy.

You'll notice that three of the skeins contain blue, yet it's not the dominant color.

My needles currently contain three pair of socks, so I'm going to just admire these great colors for the time being. Just seeing them is helping to satisfy my craving for color.

What cravings have you had while practicing social distancing?

  1. All pretty choices. Over the years I notice that my wardrobe trends toward certain color. Red is my favorite but I wear a lot of blue too.

  4. Great colours!

I'm surprised I'm not craving more take-out - we used to get it about once a week. They say it's relatively safe, but Dave is not convinced, so we are still abstaining. I would really kill for some chicken wings from my fave chicken wing place though!

  5. Oh, my heart!!! That yarn is making me so happy!
I miss picking out my own fruit and veg. We are still doing delivery or curbside pickup so I have to trust others and it's hit or miss. I would love a nice ripe avocado and a fresh from the oven baguette.

  6. I can't wait to see what you make with these skeins.
The cottonwood is flying in Riverton...looks like it is snowing.
    Stay well.

  7. I have mostly browns, blues and grays in my sock yarn stash and it's much more fun to knit with color. However my businessmen husband and sons prefer darker colors for work so I make a lot of boring socks. :-)
I'm craving a hug with my friends. I miss them a lot.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. I just yesterday said to hubby I should knit socks for our d-I-l as she is always cold. A nice pair of wool socks so.uld be well received. But she once said she likes the color of bruises😬. I’m interpreting that as multicolor purple socks. I need to do some shopping to find a great purple variegated yarn. I never think to shop Etsy for yarn. I have some Opal that was really nice yarn. Hum, a good reason to help the economy out!

  11. I'm craving color. My shawl is baby poo color and my joints need a lil time out from that one.
The purse is in a natural dark wool color. I need to get some bright colors to make it pop a bit.

  12. Oh, yes, color is needed by me in a big way! I love the new skeins of yarn you've picked--put in a basket where you can see them everyday will help until you can knit them!

  13. I crave color too. But I love blue socks! I did order some yarn for shawls...I am not sure why I like to make them but I do and I can crochet while watching TV...knitting is more solitary for me...no distractions needed as I count stitches! almost incessantly!
We are almost three month into safe at home...some days are okay others I just want to go to the thrift shop or the yarn shop!
I think I crave freedom to come and go as I please...but I have to think of my husband...so I stay at home. I do get out to mow at my brothers business next door and to take care of weeds...and that helps me.
