Unearthing a UFO

small rug frame with UFO rug
May 2020
Friday I worked in the garage labeling the plastic totes on the shelves. I've been meaning to do it for over a year but kept procrastinating. I discovered the small rug frame in one of the bins, and decided to finish the long neglected UFO.

Finishing the mat did not take very long - probably two or three hours.

It's the perfect size for leaving my shoes when I come in from outside. I rarely wear shoes in the house.

The larger rug frame was also unearthed in the garage. I grabbed a ball of prepared denim and loaded the warp on the frame. I haven't twined for nearly five years and look forward to sitting outside on the patio to twine.

  1. I love it!!!! My looms are all packed up because of the remodeling and I miss them so much. I am tempted to drag out the small rigid heddle but then I come to my senses. I don't have room for anything.

  4. I've never used a loom. But I remember a neighbor lady when I was a kid who had a big loom in her house and made rugs to sell. I was always fascinated with the process. She let us kids come in and watch sometimes.

  8. Nothing like a pandemicwith stay at home orders to push us to finish things. I’ve succeeded in making several tops that have been in various stages. Nice to finish something and to have an immediate purpose for it. I’m looking forward to seeing the next one progress.
