What's On Your Door?

December 2018
I remember "wrapping" the door on the room Kathie and I shared in Hill Hall in the early 70s. It looked like a giant package complete with a large red ribbon, bow, and gift tag.  Later, I decorated my classroom door for the holidays, wrapping it like a package or creating a pictorial scene. Now, I simply hang a wreath, and this year I decided on a non-traditional one that I can leave on the door most of the winter.

What's on your door?

p.s.  - consider posting a photo of your front door on your blog - let your online friends see how you welcome visitors to your home.

  1. Sorry 'bout that. Fingers on wrong keys .... hit send.

Okay, let's try this again ---- because our *front* door does not face front, we aren't doing any door decor. However, I have it on good authority that our lights are going up today.

  2. We don't use our front door...but we do hand a pinecone wreath that Fletcher's Mom made years and years and years ago. Once Fletch puts it up, I will try to get a picture of it.

I like your blue and silver wreath Nancy - very pretty.

  5. Sometimes I have a wreath, but the past 2 years it's been a vertical swag kind of thing with bells.

  6. I have a wreath on the front door, but this year I also put swags on the porch railing.

  7. I just posted mine because I took all the fall things off the grapevine wreath and left if blank. I'm still not in the holiday mood. After all that cold weather it's sunny and 60 here today so that's not helping.

  8. That is an absolutely gorgeous wreath. I love all of the colors of blue. And it will look wonderful hanging up all winter. I don’t put anything on our front door, but I have a plastic, yes plastic, swag that I bought from home interiors probably 35 years ago that hangs next to the door. I’ll try to remember to take a picture of it for my blog but it won’t be today. Huge fluffy snowflakes are falling outside right now. Blessings, Betsy

  9. Beautiful wreath. I have my polar bear swag on my door. I made it for our house when I was about 17 years old, and when I moved out on my own, Mom sent it with me. Looking at it this year, it's probably time for something new... or a least a refresh. But we'll give it one more Christmas!

  12. I like your wreath - very pretty and very winter as well as holiday! We have a pretty traditional wreath on one front door, and a crappy bell wreath from CVS that I want to replace on the other front door (yes we have two front doors - long story).

  14. I love your wreath - it looks very festive and it's nice that you will be able to enjoy it throughout winter. I just finished making a wreath for our door...will share it soon.
