Bonus Pieces

Bonus HSTs
April 2016
This box contains 180 large "bonus" HSTs and 96 smaller "bonus" HSTs from the construction of Scrappy Lanterns, Cheerio, and another QOV that is still in the works. I love patterns that create useable scraps.

  1. That is amazing! When you see them all together like this it makes you realize just how much fabric we waste when we toss those trimmings. I have a pile of these triangles trimmed from corners on my sewing table. I use them as leaders and enders often. There are lots of them ready to press, lots ready to square up, and lots more ready to sew.

  2. Wow! That's got to be enough for a whole other quilt. (? maybe ?) Such nice colors, too!

  5. I have a plastic shoe box filled with half square triangle left overs. I am hoping to put them together in a quilt this summer. Right now I am one tired teacher!

  7. They looks so tidy in their little storage box! Enjoy the selection process. Picking colors is almost as fun as the actual construction.

  8. It will be interesting to see what you do with them. At my house, they would be shifted from closet to closet, I'm afraid. :-((

  9. You're going to busy, I think! But I bet you'll have them turned into a quilt in nothing flat.

  11. A "two for one" project. What a deal!

  12. You pay the same price for the scraps as you do for the fabric that is used to make the primary quilt. I don't tend to pick patterns that would use a big square that is sewn and flipped. If the scrap fabric makes less than a 1.5" triangle I toss. But, honestly, I have several bags and boxes of small triangles hanging around...

  13. I've been going through my scraps and organizing them to eventually use them up. I love how you seem to have a plan for yours :)
