Brickless - Off the Needles

Brickless shawl/scarf
March 2016
Brickless is off the needles, blocked, and ready for action.

Oddly, most of the "purple" bled out when I soaked the piece for blocking. I added some vinegar to the rinse water just to be safe. The photo above reflects the true color of the yarn.

remaining yarn - 5 grams
I was a bit worried about having enough yarn to complete the shawl, and it was close. I had 5 grams remaining from the 100 gram skein. Note the purple color in this photo.

Brickless - blocked
I probably blocked the points a bit too much, but I wanted the eyelet lace to show. The points will relax with wear.

Knitting notes on earlier posts: Brickless Scarf and Brickless Progress.

One more skein of yarn Slashed from my Stash.

  4. That is beautiful! I once had some yarn that bled and bled after it was knitted into socks. It was ugly yarn that had been over dyed too many times. I finally stripped all the dye out and ended with a vaguely grayish color that I then dyed with grape koolaid.

  5. I would be so disappointed in the color change but the shawl is beautiful.

  7. The texture on that shawl is really beautiful. And the more neutral color is pretty too, although I'm sure you are disappointed to lose the purple. Have you had that problem with yarn before?

  8. Brickless looks beautiful. I LOVE those sharp points.

Isn't it great when you end up with just a tiny bit of leftover. I know it's a little worrisome when you see that ball getting smaller and smaller, but when it all works out ----- FANTASTIC and very little waste!

  11. Love, love, love it! It's hard to knit when you're holding your breath, isn't it? So glad you had just enough yarn! It's beautiful. That's a pattern I need to try.

  12. Several shawl knitters, including you, have convinced me I need to knit myself one. I refuse to start one yet. Must finish two knitting projects that aren't seeing a lot of action. Some day I'll knit a shawl. This one is gorgeous.

  13. That's a beautiful shawl! I like the grey with purple highlights. I'm a sucker for grey yarn. Isn't it interesting that we each have color preferences for yarn that we go to over and over again?

  14. Nancy that came out so beautiful! I can't believe you finished with just 5 grams left. Lucky you! It is so lovely

  16. I am in love with this pattern now. It looks really good in your photos both in the purple shots and the more gray photos. This just proves what a great pattern it is especially in a tonal yarn. I'm going to put it on the list for sure for 2016. I definitely have something I can stash slash this with!

  17. Nice finish. Someday I'll knit a lace scarf but not yet. I need to whittle down my quilt UFOs.
