Scrappy Firefly

Riverton Balloon Rally
Riverton, WY
July 19, 2015
Early yesterday, I went to the Central Wyoming Soccer Field to watch the hot air balloons inflate and hopefully take flight. The balloons were grounded Friday and Saturday mornings due to unsafe flying conditions.

The patchwork design on this balloon caught my eye and made me wonder if the pilot was a quilter or knows a quilter. Isn't it colorful?

I'll be sharing photos later of a couple more unique balloons.

  1. I agree the balloon is beautiful! But you could not pay me all the money in the world to get in and take a ride. That would be the scariest thing ever! Ha!

  2. From the looks of the balloons, you could get a lot of quilting inspiration! :-)

  4. What a beautiful balloon! If the wind was like it was here on Saturday no wonder they couldn't go up. It was gale force:(

  5. Wow! Beautiful balloon. We went to a balloon launch with our girls when they were about middle school age. It was very exciting to watch. We do see a couple of local balloons around here every summer. It's on my bucket list to ride in one some day.

  6. Glad you got to see Sunday's launch. Yes, that balloon does remind me of a quilter's design. Great pictures.

  9. I think those balloons are so beautiful, and I've thought a lot of them look like quilt patterns.

  10. I've put pieced balloons in a couple of my wallhangings. They made wonderful added interest to an oversized Nebraska block along with buildings, trees and an airplane.
