Amazing America

Amazing America
56 x 72 inchess
Quilt of Valor
Amazing America was made mostly from scraps of other quilts: I had to supplement some of the white from my stash. The pattern directions are for Jelly Rolls, but I used 2.5 inch squares that I had pre-cut for other projects.

Even though this quilt used a lot of 2.5 inch scraps, I have even more to use. No matter how much I sew, it seems like all I've been doing is making even more scraps.

This quilt was made using the Royal Squares - Quilts by Emily. The link directs you to the free pattern.

Update: February 2016

  3. This is definitely one of my favorites! The white/light fabric frames are what my eye catches first and then it dances all over the place. Love it!

  4. Very pretty! I'm having the same phenomenon happening at my house - the scrap bin is not shrinking like it should be. My theory - and I'm sticking to it - is that scraps - like dirty laundry - multiplies in the dark while we sleep.

  5. We were out to dinner the other night with a couple that has a son in Afghanistan. She is working to get a Quilt of Valor for her son when he gets home. Thanks to you ....I knew just what that is.

    This one is very cheerful!

  8. An amazingly beautiful quilt Nancy! It has great character. I have also found that it is hard to get rid of scraps. I have made scrap shawls and scarves and socks and still had as many scraps left as when I started. They have a life of their own!

  9. its so cool to see some purple and black squares. It doesn't detract from the red white and blue at all. Lovely. sorry the scraps are like rabbits...
