Brrrrr!
A list of the temperatures around Wyoming yesterday and last night can be seen here. Yesterday's high temperature in Riverton was -1 F and last night's low was -20 F.
It's a safe bet that I wear hand-knit wool socks, cowls/scarves, hats, and mittens whenever I go out. My winter survival kit is in the trunk of my car, and the gas tank is always full. Like it or not, winter is here, and it's important to be prepared.
Do you have an emergency kit in your vehicle?
I hope the wind comes up today and blows this cold air out of the valley. If not, the bitter cold could hang in here for days.
Cute cartoons.
ReplyDeleteYou need to come down here for a visit. It's 82 today.
Oh that is just too, too cold. I bet business have places where you can plug your car in, don't they? Stay warm. Maybe some quilting by the fire? g
ReplyDeleteI love cartoons Nancy!!!!
ReplyDeleteI want some snow!
I'm so glad that you have a survival kit, please keep warm!
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrrrrr
ReplyDeleteSerious cold when you have to have a survival kit in your car!
What does My fellow reader mean when she talks about businesses letting you plug you car in?
This weather has given me a serious case of cabin fever. I WANT to go out, but when the nostrils freeze together I won't go out.
ReplyDeleteA nice cup of tea, so craft projects, and a little nice music.....who needs to go anywhere!?! Stay warm! :o)
ReplyDeleteSending warm thoughts your way. I'm packing in by dogs, so even with freezing rain outside, we're very cozy.
ReplyDeleteIt's very cold here lately, we have had 135 cm of snow, which is 30 more than we normally get in one season and winter still has about 3 good months to go! Today it warmed up to 0 and that brought some rain which will just make driving tomorrow so icy, but it was nice to not freeze so much today.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely coloring prize, I've never knit socks before but I've always wanted to!
Brr... you made me stop and wonder "I hope the wind comes up today and blows this cold air out of the valley." Really? Wouldn't that make it colder? There is a reason I live much farther south! Keep those needles working. I have wool socks but find they are to hot most of the winter here. But that won't stop me from making a new pair!
ReplyDeleteThat is too cold! Your hand knits must be getting a workout. I don't have an emergency kit in the car, but I do have a couple of blankets and I almost always have a bottle of water with me. If I lived where you do, I would most definitely be prepared.
ReplyDeleteIt has been really cold here. One would think after so many years in Wyoming I would be used to it. I'm a wimp now LOL
ReplyDeleteStay warm :)
We are not quite that cold, but we have a lot of snow. Wow, I just did the conversion to C...wow, cold!!
ReplyDeleteI thought the week of -16 C temps were a little too cold to go outside. Normally it gets to at least -25 [-13] here..and has gone down to -50 [or so the old timers say].
Nancy stay warm....and we do have emergency stuff in our vehicles...probably not enough...but we don't travel far away. I will organize something today.
Jen
BRRR...we had +8C yesterday...maybe it is headed your way:))
ReplyDeleteOh, I just had to smile when you wrote that you keep your gas/fuel tank full and have an emergency kit in the trunk. I grew up in northern Wyoming and we were taught to do the same thing.......then, I moved to Texas and still kept my gas tank full. When we first got married, my husband thought I was nuts......until we moved to Utah and he had his first "real" winter.....haha. Stay warm, you are sending the sub-zero temps our way in Nebraska later this weekend
ReplyDeleteHotmail--I love it--I need that type of hotmail! Its cold here--not quite as cool as Riverton but cold enough. Frozen nose hair cold! I am toasting in front of my little heater. Yeah--I love it.
