Back in Time

near Wheatland, WY
approximately 1975
Today it is easy to find spas that offer massages. In 1975, however, it was not trendy, and those who wanted a massage must have searched high and low.

The proprietor clearly thought the old tub on the pole added a touch of class to the establishment which offered "Scientific Swedish Massage."

Have you ever had a Swedish Massage?

  1. I've never had a Swedish massage and I don't think a rusted out washtub on a pole would inspire me to drive on in and give it a try. :)

  7. Great picture, Nancy. I wonder if one didn't get a bit more than a massage at that establishment. Hmmmm? That's just based on some of the other "massage establishments" in the state at that time.

  12. I have only had one massage and I am sure it was not Swedish. I found the massage very painful not at all enjoyable. I am over endowed so it was painful to be pressed into that table..and the gal put all her weight behind her fingers..not fun at all..and the stinky oil she used..yuck:..I am sure I would have liked the Swedish Massage in your photo much better:)
