Knitting with a Purpose
ten, knit dishcloths August 2020 |
I know that it seems crazy to knit a pile of dishcloths from a simple pattern, but the repetition helps keep my mind focused when I have no desire to do anything.
Who knows what I will do with the dishcloths, but I'm sure they will be useful to someone in the future.
There are times when we NEED those auto-pilot tasks. For me that tends to be when I curl up with a book and escape into the story.
ReplyDeleteI agree - sometimes it is the best way to knit. Which reminds me...I should do that!
ReplyDeleteOperation Christmas Child likes to put one in every box!
ReplyDeleteI am in that same mindset. I can only handle the simplest things. I made myself sick over my latest quilt top. I had to put it away for the day and it's only something simple. This isolation thing is really starting to get to me.
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern and call it my "no-brainer knitting". I've made many 100s over the years. I put 6 in any gift I give. We use them daily in our kitchen. On occasion I've had a friend (who received them) if she could buy 2 dozen for Christmas gifts. Sure! I've got a stack. I figure out what each cost me to make, double it, and that's what I charged her.
ReplyDeleteI feel so much better now. I've made 54 dishcloths since the pandemic started and been homebound. Maybe I am normal after all!
ReplyDeleteI hit the same potholes of inattention--at least knitting dishcloths is better then sitting and drooling...
ReplyDeletetake care!
Can someone point me in the direction to find this or a similar pattern? Thx
ReplyDeleteYou can find it on Ravelry or other places as Granny's Dishcloth or Grandma's Dishcoth. Good luck.

DeleteThat's a great thing to do and I constantly have a dishcloth on the needles just to pick up. I need to make a few to have here in the trailer as gifts.

I think you are being very diligent, nice and easy to knit when you are looking for something simple. The clothes will make a nice little gift for friends sometime.
ReplyDeleteA knitted or crocheted dishcloth is NEVER wasted. Great job Nancy
ReplyDeleteDishcloths are always useful!
ReplyDeleteAnd I was admiring the crisp corners on your pinwheels!
Mindless knitting is a necessity sometimes. Dish cloths make great gifts - wrap them up with fancy soaps or inexpensive kitchen doo dads!
ReplyDeleteMindless handwork is okay...I do it all the time:)
