Knitting in the Sunshine

taking advantage of a warm summer afternoon
September 2020

Last week, I made an effort to sit outside and knit for at least an hour each afternoon. I soaked up every bit of sunshine I could because I knew a winter storm system was headed this way and would bring a drastic end of summer.

For a change of pace, I cast on a Baby Surprise Jacket, using two skeins of Plymouth Encore. The variegated skein is Encore Dynamo (color 042 - Persian Empire) and the solid brown is Encore (color 1204 - Brownstone). Both skeins were purchased at a thrift store several years ago.

  1. Hoping that winter storm didn't bring much snow for you. It's currently 45 degrees here and we got just a drizzle of rain early this morning. But it does look like we might see a little more rain today. BRRR! Not ready for winter yet.

  2. Very smart of you to take advantage of the good weather and hope it isn't too bad of a storm that is coming.

  4. That is a pattern that intrigues me. Some day I will try it! Meanwhile, I hope you did not get dumped on too much. My brother in CO said it was 93 there yesterday and 33 this morning...temp is dropping and rain is changing to snow for him. They are forecast to get 8-10"!! Life in CO!

  6. You're getting a snow storm and we are getting a tropical something or other over the next few days. Rain, heat and humidity AGAIN. I'd trade you if I could.

  7. It's so nice sitting outside in the sunshine for a while, knitting or hand stitching, or even relaxing with a good book. I know I certainly enjoy it in the good weather.

  9. The weather is crazy isn't it? I hope by the time we head that direction it is all melted and warmth is back.
Take care and I'm looking forward to seeing that surprise jacket.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
