Evening Knitting

Baby Surprise Jacket
September 2020

In the evenings, while watching NCIS on Netflix, I've been working on the Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman. This will be a good sweater for a toddler when it's finished.

I am using Encore and Encore Dynamo yarns - both a blend of washable wool and acrylic.

The sweater is knit in one piece and folded into the sweater shape when finished. The shoulders are the only seams.

The pattern is available online (digital or print) at Schoolhouse Press

  1. I still find this pattern so intriguing. I'm debating about buying the pattern or one of her books that it is in.....

  5. I also find this sweater intriguing, and I do want to make one sometime. You are clearly doing great with this, but I know many people struggle with it. I don't always find EZ's directions super clear!

  6. It is good to have a project going for a relaxing evening! Hope you have escaped the smoke, we are okay here today a cold front came through and pushed the smoke and haze more south.

  7. I have that pattern and the DVD tutorial but I have yet to make it. I just watched a video podcast where someone was knitting one so I am very intrigued. Now I just need a baby to make one for. My dear DIL is not the hand knit type so I thought better of gifting her one for the Grands but it was killing me not to. The few little things I did make for them just sort of disappeared...lol.

  8. I think your Baby Surprise jacket is turning out beautifully. I've thought about making one sometime but have just never done it.
I did start a new sweater for Miss Piper last night. I hope to finish it for her birthday the 29th but I've gotten a late start to finish it and mail it in time.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. Wow That is an awesome knit. My garter fights will keep me from ever knitting one. But I am impressed by Zimmerman. And YOU!

  11. You’ve been clicking those needles really fast these days! Good job. And using stash yarn.
