Connecting the Dots

Dot to Dot fun
during social distancing
April 2020
Last summer, I spotted an unused, Dot to Dot booklet in the local Goodwill store for $.50, and on a whim put it in my shopping cart. While cleaning out the magazine basket beside my knitting chair last week, I found the booklet and began working on a few of the pages.

The numbers are tiny, and my eyes are old, so a magnifying glass is an essential aide. It has been fun watching the images appear under my pen.

My niece asked if it was therapeutic: in a way, I suppose it is. Since the booklet has 98 puzzles, I'm certainly getting $.50 worth of enjoyment out it.

Have you discovered some unexpected distractions while social distancing?

  1. I'll bet that's fun! I haven't thought of that kind of puzzle in years, but I loved them as a kid. I'm still doing crosswords and sudoku daily.

  2. That does look like fun! I guess it's why I am just making watercolor dots on paper. I need something mindless and soothing when things just get to be too much. I'd be painting or coloring those images too and maybe cutting them out and....see. This is just what we need right now. Lol.

  4. Cool find.

Like a lot of people, I'm thinking up more creative meals with what I can find at the market. It's not always the foods we usually eat. It's been fun.

  8. I used to love to do dot to dots when I was in school but haven't done one for ages. My mindless activity is a coloring app on my iPad that my sister told me about. I've spent way too much time mindlessly coloring when I should have been knitting or cleaning but it's oddly satisfying.

  9. My yarn bombing is my distraction of course, but I love the idea of a complex dot-to-dot! Would love to see the finished product.

  10. I'm putting on nails for a manicure and that is a fun distraction. I love the KISS brand. I am looking at Colorstreet with a new perspective. I did the pedicure and didn't like it, but my goodness it is lasting forever...so maybe

  11. Talk about a good buy! I should look through my old teaching supplies and see what I can send to my grands. I know I have some dot to dots they might enjoy doing. My distraction is quilting. I’m about done with my mask making. I’m burning out on it. I really need to clean things up and start debating about how much of the small bits and pieces do I need.

  12. You got your monies worth! There was a Minnesota group of coloring pages in the Star Tribune so I printed them out:)
