An Afternoon with Monet
On Saturday, I had the privilege of attending the Monet exhibit (THE TRUTH OF NATURE) at the Denver Art Museum. The Laramie senior center (Eppson Center for Seniors) organized a bus trip to the exhibit, and I'm thrilled that I was able to secure a seat.
It was often difficult to get close to the masterpieces because so many people were in the exhibit hall, but I did manage to take photos of my favorites. I'll be sharing them periodically.
Forgive me for not giving the names of these fabulous works of art, but I felt fortunate to just photograph the paintings before the crowd surged around.
Monet is well known for his use of color, so I was surprised that one section of the exhibit included winter scenes. The detail was amazing down to the brush strokes of the frosty trees.
I particularly loved the paintings that included water and clouds and could have viewed the details for hours.
Wow how great you could attend this event and see these wonderful pictures.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been a fabulous day! I remember seeing a similar exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and it is HARD to see everything when there are so many people around. Looking forward to seeing more pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat would have been a fabulous experience - and the winter scenes are something I've not seen. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the works of Monet!!!! The last one is my bestest scene!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat for you!
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous opportunity! I am amazed at Monet's gift - I can't draw to save my life. His scenes convey such serenity.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing time for you. I love art. My favorite museum is the National Portrait Gallery in London. So many paintings there that were in my history books in school. Just like the Mona Lisa, I was always startled at how small the actual paintings were compared to the photos in my books!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking foward to seeing the paintings that you share with us.
Blessings
Betsy
Don't you just love the colors of Monet?
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful!! I haven't been in a gallery in ages which is a shame on me thing since I only live about 30 minute from downtown DC.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your photos. I enjoyed these.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful exhibition, Monets paintings are wonderful. I was also lucky to see some of his work when a traveling exhibition came out here to New Zealand several years ago.
ReplyDeleteNancy, that you for sharing the favorites. The last one is my favorite. I do love Monet paintings. There was a time when I was the ART mom at my children's school . I learned a lot about the classic artistic. I hope I haven't forgotten it all!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have been there with you...
ReplyDeleteLove the winter scene. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of his with winter. I love how ethereal his paintings feel.
ReplyDeleteWow what a nice trip! I enjoyed seeing your photos!
