Tools

Don't you love the fuzzy slippers and cigar!

Life on the farm taught me to handle a saw, hammer, and other tools with confidence. I used those skills in my first teaching job and taught my students how to make scenery for the plays I directed. We constructed stage flats with simple wooden frames and unbleached muslin. They were built to last, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are still being used.

I keep a small tool box in the garage with basic tools, and one in the trunk of the car, too.

Are you comfortable using building tools?

  2. Yep. The Mister and I have remodeled our house ourselves twice now and are getting ready to do the kitchen if I could only decide what color cabinets I want.

  3. Yep.

I've changed tires for people a couple of times. Boy, are THEY surprised to see a "little old lady" get down and dirty with a tire.

  4. I can use them, but prefer not to - lol. But now I want a tool belt! The cigar and fuzzy slippers are just too, too funny. Thanks for the laugh.

  5. I'm kind of in the middle - I can handle some simple tools. But I'm not comfortable with saws so not likely to build anything. But I can put together things.

  6. Me and Sara are the same. I can do some small things but building props wouldn't happen. Cute cartoon.

  7. I like the lace around the sleeves too. :-)
I'm like Sara and Changes in the Wind. Yesterday I put a cart together, all by myself. I can hang pictures, use a screwdriver, etc. But I've never even tried to build anything and haven't changed a tire or the oil in the car since Dennis and I got married. My Dad insisted we do both before we were allowed to get a drivers license and I'm grateful for the knowledge.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. The one in the green dress reminds me of my great aunt Barb - she was one tough woman!
I'm fairly handy, but I can't say I enjoy it. But if Dave's not around (or too busy) I have no problems doing it myself!

  12. Nancy that was a great way to teach how to use tools! no. I am such a klutz. I couldn't even make JIFFY POP today without burning my finger and dropping it all over the kitchen. Fireman keeps me away from tools. I do know a few things about garden tools. :)
