sipping and knitting May 2019 |
Last week, a friend asked me to accompany her on a road trip. While she was at her appointment, I started a pair of socks and sipped on a cup of Earl Grey. Several people stopped at my table to inquire what I was making. I love how knitting in public is an ice breaker and a conversation starter.
The yarn for this pair of socks was given to me by my friend, Julie. She purchased the yarn (
Elegantly Twisted Yarns) in Nova Scotia. Thanks, Julie!
yes, I have given away a number of scrubbies to people in waiting rooms as it is in a bag easy to grab on my way out the door. Our one Dr Office has a puzzle table and I would love to work on it...but germs...:(
ReplyDeleteIt really is fun to stitch in a public place - if for no other reason than as a conversation starter.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your friend appreciated having you travel with her.
ReplyDeletePretty yarn for a pretty sock!
ReplyDeleteRoad trip knitting is the best!!
ReplyDeleteI love knitting in public. When I had my nuclear stress test last month the nurses and technician remembered me from three years ago! I had given them each a dishcloth at the time because they were fascinated by my knitting while waiting for each part of the test.
ReplyDeleteWhen they saw me again, all three asked if I would make them more and they would pay me. They loved the dishcloths. They had wanted to call me but thought that might be using my personal file information in the wrong way! Of course I went home and got 9 dishcloths from my gift closet and took them back that afternoon. They were thrilled and wouldn't believe I wouldn't accept money for them. It is SO gratifying to know that someone actually likes and uses my handmade items.
How is the snow? Our news said your area and CO were snowed in again. They were talking about all of the campgrounds that are still closed. Stay warm.
Blessings,
Betsy
I love to knit in public for the same reason! Your yarn looks lovely! Sounds like a nice way to hang out with a friend!
ReplyDeleteIt is true that people often ask what you are making:)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty sock coming along. I haven't done much "public" knitting recently. In fact, knitting has taken a back seat to quilting (which it often does) as I try desperately to finish hand quilting a Christmas quilt from late 1990's. Maybe this will be the year I finish.
