Easter Eggs

April 2019
This sock yarn reminds me of dyeing Easter eggs. I love how it swirls around the cuff and wonder what the yarn will do on the foot section - stripe or pool.

Do you remember using the wax crayon in the egg dyeing kit to write your name or to create designs on the egg before it was dipped in the dye?  Do you still dye eggs for your Easter table?

  1. The Mister is an egg dying maniac. I have to boil at least an 18 pack to give him enough to play with. I used to use the leftover dye to dye wool but the formula has changed and it's not so pretty anymore. It's too pale. It used to be brilliant.

  2. Fun yarn! What is it? We don't dye eggs these days - it's just Fletch and me...but maybe I should dye some and take them to Colin & Mailing. Or suggest a dyeing party at their place. I do remember those wax crayons...I think my brothers would write or draw not so pleasant things.....

  3. I do remember dying Easter eggs as a kid. My girls were never very interested so we only did it a couple of times. I did buy some kits this year to send to the grandkids.

  4. I haven't dyed eggs for years!
In Brownies, we used wax, rubber bands, tape... all kinds of things to make designs before dipping them in dye.
    Love the sock yarn.

  8. We never got into egg dying. My daughter was allergic and couldn't even touch an egg shell without breaking out until she was 12 or 13.
I love the way your socks are striping. Hope the foot will be as pretty.

  9. Interesting sock yarn! Right now my sock yarn is really pooling, and I can't decide whether it's the pattern or the yarn or both. No dyeing here as kids are long gone.
