Nymphalidea - completed

Nymphalidea
ready for blocking
May 2015
While it looked somewhat strange when off the needles, Nymphalidea was a fun and fairly fast knit. The pattern and yarn specifics can be found on this post.

Wedge lace detail
The shawl is composed of welts (contrasting yarn) and wedges (variegated yarn) where the lace is created by knitting 2 stitches together and adding yarn overs in short rows.

Nymphallidea bound off edge

Nymphalidea
begins with 12 stitches

Notes:

I knit wedges A, B, C once each; wedge D ten times; wedge E ten times; wedge F five times, and wedges G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, and O once each. The welts were knit according to the original pattern through the fifth E wedge, and from that point on, I knit the alternate wedge.

The finished shawl is approximately 66 inches long.
