In Their Own Words
It is fun to learn about the present from the past. I marvel at the insight of the individuals who lived in a time void of our numerous conveniences, and I enjoy reading their actual words.
When I stumbled on Letters of Note, I knew I had found a true gem. The blog highlights personal letters from the past, and this post made me pause and utter, "Wow!"
I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I do.

I just read the letter you linked to and it makes me wonder which current "science fiction" will become reality 30 years from now.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of a journal I found for one of my ancestors back in the day when I was doing genealogy.
ReplyDeleteVery cool.

Aside from knitting and crocheting, I love history too.
I am heading over!! Thank you for the link.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favorite blogs!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look at that - thanks for suggesting it!
ReplyDeleteI came across a blog a while back, caled The Box Project, I believe. It involved a journal kept by a mother and daughter, in 2 different towns, and they each had boxes that had been in storage that belonged to the woman's mom. They opened the boxes in their own separate homes and wrote about what they found and the memories they had of those items. It was so interesting and I believe the younger woman did a college project on the experiment.
I like reading words and ideas from our forefathers. Thanks for sending us the link to this blog!
ReplyDeleteI have in my possession old check stubs from over 100 years ago for teachers. It amazes me over and over to read these, no matter how many times my eyes scan these.
