The Power of Words

~ Karen Blixen ~
Those words have haunted me since the first time I saw the movie, "Out of Africa." I have no idea how many times I have seen this movie (probably dozens) but each time it fills me with admiration for Karen Blixen. Meryl Streep protrays Blixen as was such a strong woman.
Each time I watch the movie, I tell myself that I need to read Blixen's books and stories research her life to see how much of the movie is based on fact. I haven't done that yet, but a quick search today gives me an idea.

I know what you mean about that movie. I've seen it several times myself. Just reading those words brings it all back to me.
ReplyDeleteI have the movie, I have the book, and I have a book about Karen Blixen. It's ALL interesting!
ReplyDeleteI too love that movie and have watched it many times....think the success is owed to Meryl Streep...what a wonderful representation she did.
ReplyDeleteI think Out of Africa is one of Meryl's best movies and one of my favorites! It was on cable yesterday and I love the story. For me, I detect a gentness that absolutely mermerizes me with her voice. I totally get into this movei!
ReplyDeleteI have that hauntingly beautiful sound track. A mother brought it for her sad little baby years ago. We played it for him, and it was so bittersweet.
ReplyDeleteCan you believe that I have NEVER seen that movie! I'm going to have to watch it now, though! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself.
