Stacks of Scraps
Last week I tackled the 2.5” scrap bin. I pulled all the smaller pieces and short strips and began making strip sets to be cut into two-patch units and then sewed into four-patch units. After two days of sewing, pressing and trimming, I had 180 four-patches — enough to begin assembling a Quilt of Valor kit started at Marilyn’s earlier this month.
Unfortunately, all this sewing barely made a dent in the scrap bin.
Hard to believe that 180 four patches barely made a dent in your scraps! But, I am a fabric saver too - can't bear to part with any piece that could be used for *something* - LOL!
ReplyDeleteI know, I keep using up fabric and it seems to keep multiplying all on its own! lol can't wait to see the new blocks!
ReplyDeleteGreat start! I keep thinking that I'll make a bigger dent in the scraps too, but maybe I'm just "fluffing them up" in the bins. LOL
ReplyDelete180 four patches barely made a dent! I can't believe it! That's a LOT of scraps. I know that eventually they will all be used for gorgeous quilts. Way to go Nancy!

That's often the way, isnt it. Scraps galore breed more scraps.
ReplyDeletePS. Meant to add, I recently made a pile of neutral string blocks for a percolating project, and that hardly made a dent in the big bag of strips either.
ReplyDeleteMy yarn seems to multiply too:)
ReplyDeleteHa! I know that feeling! Even when I do make a dent, it doesn't take much to fill it back up again
ReplyDeleteYou just reminded me I have a pile of scrap blocks I was supposed to put together for a quilt ages ago. I really need to get in my sewing room for a good clean up but I just can''t find the time.
ReplyDeleteWell, you certainly have a good start on the scrap pile. I'm convinced scraps of yarn and fabric multiply when we are not looking.
