Mr. Greenjeans
Just hearing the name "Mr. Greenjeans" reminds me of Captain Kangaroo and its iconic music.
This blanket will be knit in different shades of green and should be boy-friendly.
Mr. Greenjeans is a Western Region Oddball Baby Blanket knit with size 9 needles on 121 stitches.
I used Caron Simply Soft (Dark Sage) and an adaptation of the Purled Ladder stitch for my section.
Were you a regular viewer of Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Greenjeans?

Looks great. I did not watch the show....AFN did not carry it :)
ReplyDeleteI loved that show... and greens always work for me. Great start to a blanket!
ReplyDeleteThis will be a nice blanket. Captain Kangaroo was one of my favorite shows. My sisters and I watched it all the time. My parents even used it to help us understand the length of an hour. They would say something like, "You need to be ready to go in one Captain Kangaroo." For 30 minute increments they used another one of our favorite shows, Buckskin Bill, a local program. It really did help us get a grasp for how long something would take.
ReplyDeleteLove all the stitches in this one...wish we could see it finished. Didn't watch the show but was a aware of it.
ReplyDeleteI played the music and smiled--yes, I remember Captain Kangaroo!!!
ReplyDeleteso very pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't think I ever watch the show... Beautiful designs in that blanket!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memories!! I met Bob Keeshan once at a seminar. I said, "Are you Captain Kangaroo?" He said, "No, I'm Bob Keeshan." Then we both laughed. I used to love it when he and Bunny Rabbit would have a conversation that was over the kids heads but clear to the Moms watching!
ReplyDeleteLove the stitch pattern in the center section of the blanket!!
I'm aware the TV was ON and that program was ON, but don't remember WATCHING IT. Where was I? LOL How simple it used to be. Maybe it was my little kids who were watching it??
ReplyDeleteOh yeah.... I watched. ANd I LOVE the blanket. Everyone you show I seem to like better than the last one that I was crazy about!
ReplyDeleteI love Mr. Green Jeans...shades of green, my favorite. Ah, yes...I was a big fan of the Captain. The good old days....
