Plastic Food Restaurant Menu
Misawa, Japan
Autumn 1979
Practically every restaurant in Japan had a display of plastic foods which represented their entire menu. Surprisingly, the displays accurately depicted the food.
You can see how the fake food is made on this site. If you are interested, make sure you click on the "next" button at the bottom of that page for more information.
I've been to restaurants here that have fake desserts to represent their dessert menu, but I've never seen a whole menu in fake food. This restaurant in the photo seemed to have a very large selection. It was interesting to learn how the fake food was made.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I'm not so sure how tempting/inspiring I find the fake food, but I do understand the concept.
ReplyDeleteThat was fasinating..love learning new things.
ReplyDeleteI wondered about that when I was there.. I don't think I realized it was plastic food though! How interesting.
