Here and Gone

As predicted, Thursday/Friday's storm dropped about three inches of snow on the area, and by Saturday it had all melted because the ground and streets were so warm. Even with that, Interstate 80 was closed for winter conditions Thursday night. It seems like people forget how to drive in snow/ice, and it takes them a while to remember.

It's pretty typical for this area to have a mid-October snow storm and then another around Halloween. I'm thrilled that this storm was here and gone in a couple of days.

  1. Glad the snow didn't cause you too much problem.

We had hardly any snow last year. I think we are due. When it does snow the road in front of our road becomes "fools on ice". We live almost at the top of a long hill. Going up most people do fine. Going down ................not so much.

  2. It sure does seem to be true that people forget how to drive in winter conditions - every year. We didn't see any snow from that storm, but there was a little in the Black Hills I guess. We never know around here whether Halloween will require winter coats over the costumes or no coats at all.

  3. People NEVER remember how to drive around here in snow or ice. In fact, even rain will cause a massive tie up. I am so glad I am out of the commuting game. 25 years on the Capitol Beltway in rush hour both ways for over an hour a day was enough for me.

  4. I wonder how many melts you will have this year before it stays. Generally out third snow stays.

  9. I started catching up with blogs by starting Wednesday and going backwards to Saturday...so ignore my question about how much snow you received. Obviously you asnwered it in your blog later.
    Take care:

  10. And so it begins. I'm glad your snow melted and didn't stick around too long. It is that time of year in the mountains. I remember our Cheyenne days when I 80 was closed and my hubby was stranded in central Wyoming. Those were the days.
