Reality Check!

ice scrapers found in my car
July 2022

Look what I found when I cleaned out my car before it was detailed! It looks like I expected a major blizzard.  One ice scraper is good and two better, but five is just crazy!

I kept the long handled brush scraper and the two longer handled ones on the side. The smaller ones went in the donation box

I also found multiple Wyoming road maps. It looks like I need to clean out the car more often.

How often do you clean the interior of your vehicle?

  1. I have not properly cleaned my truck since before we moved (so over a year now). It's an absolute disaster! It's on the list to do before the weekend because we have to go pick some furniture and stuff up from Dave's Grandma's house on Sunday

  2. So funny! We couldn't find ANY ice scrapers last winter - until my husband went and bought a new one. Then the "lost" ones began to show up like magic.

  3. Well of course here ice scapers are not found and being in the city everything you need is available with one stop so not a lot is kept in the car however, we do keep some emergency items in the trunk in a tub.

  4. I have reusable bags in the back of my car (for grocery shopping). A small ice scraper in the back door pocket (the large one with the brush was put in the basement at the end of winter). A couple of masks and Fletch has handi-wipes. I don't clean it out...just keep the basics.

  5. We were very happy to have a snow scraper in our car on our APRIL trip to Port Angeles as there was an unexpected icy snow storm on our drive back home!

  6. Seems like we buy a vehicle and it doesn't get cleaned out until it gets sold. I've emptied the Cruze and Acadia intending to sell them. Made the big mistake of just moving the stuff from the car to the garage without sorting. Cleaning the garage is on the to do list, but not until cooler weather.

  7. I have a laundry basket in the back of my CRV. In it is an emergency kit, (with jumper cables, flashers, etc.), toilet paper, two blankets, paper towels, extra ice scraper, leash). Can you tell we were prepared for winter mountain driving? We are leaving it there because Nebraska can be treacherous too. Under the drivers seat is the main ice scraper/brush, cloth grocery bags, leash.
I vacuum it out regularly and go through the car wash at least once a week.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. Wow. People really keep their cars clean. We don’t keep much in car except things I. The center console, glove compartment, and a ton of napkins in the front door pockets. In the back seat is at least one umbrella. I’m not sure what is in the trunk these days but I’m sure there are some cloth bags. Hubby is much neater than me so I’ve not left much in the car. Our cars are garaged so they don’t get washed much. Heck my car isn’t driven all that much. His is a hybrid so most local driving is done in it.

  9. I give ours a good clean about three times a year. spring, summer and fall. We have an emergency kit with candles, snacks, extra hats and mittens, I have laid an old quilt down as a cover in the cargo area just in case. I am sure I could find at least two scrapers I know I use the long handled one to press the buzzer at Pizza Hut for the carry out window:) I have at least one Minnesota Road map, Insurance cards, the book for the car, masks, Lysol wipes, liquid hand sanitizer, Aleve, Tums, Gum, pens and pencils, kleenex and a first aid kit! A multi tool, cloth grocery bags and a soft cooler for groceries on hot days;)

  10. I used to be very particular about my Mini and kept it very clean. I do tend to trash The MIster's Escape. He fusses at me all the time about it. It's full of junk.

  11. I keep my car very clean-vacuum monthly and shaking the floor mats out weekly! I do not like clutter in the car so it is always a de-clutter after Bill drives....
